first of the month faves // november

Happy November! I cannot believe October is over and the holidays are almost upon us. I have so much to look forward to in the coming months; my best friend is driving up from Dallas to stay with me, I'm heading back to Iowa to spend a lot of time with my family, my sister and I are going to take our annual Christmas trip to Chicago and we are also going to have all of our friends in town for our Friendsmas party. This time of year makes me so happy, so I figure this is a good time to share with you all a new series of blog posts I like to call First of the Month Faves. Here's the November edition!

1. GREEN

Usually in the fall I tend to go for more neutral colors; black, cream, cognac, BLACK.. But I've been trying to add more color to my wardrobe as the days get cooler, and one of my favorite colors to do that with is green. The best thing is, green pairs well with all of those neutral colors I mentioned above! I've compiled a few of my favorite green pieces for you to try out this fall:

Rebecca Minkoff Small Astor Saddle Bag

As I mentioned in a previous post, I rented this from Rent the Runway and I was in love. I got so many compliments and it was the perfect accessory for me to take to the show Wicked!
**It turns out this bag is sold out, but you can still rent it from Rent the Runway, and get 20% your order if it's your first time!

Old Navy Women's Tee Dress

Doesn't this dress just look so comfy? This is the perfect dress to pair with a jean jacket on a crisp fall day and it's forgiving enough that you can wear it to your Thanksgiving dinner and not feel too constricted! BONUS it is on sale for only $10 right now!

Express Textured Plaid Pleated Mini Skirt

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I. LOVE. MINI SKIRTS. I love the high waist on this one and how it pairs perfectly with black tights and the best thing about this skirt is that it can be worn well into the holiday season! (Christmas parties, anyone??)

Chloe Drew mini textured-leather shoulder bag

This is another bag that I love. It's a lighter shade of green but would still pair well with a loose cream blouse and skinny jeans with booties.

2. Target's Christmas Décor

How early is too early to start decorating for Christmas? I usually wait until the day after Thanksgiving, but I start thinking about it far before that! Target has been advertising the cutest Christmas décor and I cannot wait to get my hands on it! Here are a few things I will be buying as soon as possible:

Threshold Gold Metallic Merry Christmas Banner

SERIOUS. GOALS. I'm obsessed with surfing. Why? I don't know, I live in Missouri and was raised in Iowa. But I'm taking a trip to Hawaii in March and I'm hoping to take a surfing lesson. (Still looking forward to that next tropical vacation!) While I don't think I will ever be surfing in high heels, this video is pretty cool and this woman owns it. I only hope I can be as cool as her some day!

4. Stuffed Pepper Soup Recipe

This time of year I love to make soup, which my husband doesn't necessarily care for, but if I make a hearty, filling soup, he is all about it. My friend shared with me this recipe for Stuffed Pepper Soup from Skinnytaste, and it gets an A+ from the hubs. (Also visit Skinnytaste for tons of other delicious low fat recipes!)

5. Lightweight Old Navy Quilted Zip Vests

In the past years I have bought quilted vests and they've just been too bulky for me, but this year I found a whole rack of these lightweight vests at Old Navy and I decided I must own one. They are perfect for just wearing around to run errands and not too heavy to layer up when I go tailgating in a couple weeks! They also come in a ton of colors (to help you add color into your fall wardrobe!)

It's 73 degrees to start off November here in Missouri, and I ain't mad at it. I have tons of yard work to do (raking, ugh!) but hey, it's a good arm workout, right? (Gotta burn off all that Halloween candy!) How are you going to spend your Sunday?
